540,000 documents gathered in 45,000 files show the urban history of
Albania. On the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Central
Technical Construction Archive, the Ministry of Tourism and Urban
Development, Eglantina Gjermeni, declared that it is very important
finalizing the digitalization of this institution’s documents.
“One of the old documents is that for the reconstruction project of the bridge on the Buna river, since 1911. There is no nation without history and without documents, and the documentation of this archive serves to learn these good things done through the years”, Gjermeni declared.
The first director of the technical archive, Agim Mero, reminded that many of the constructions in Tirana were made by the Italians, and these buildings have special values even today.
“Many Italians have projected the Boulevard of Tirana and the city’s plan. The buildings that the Italian government would use were the Bank of Tirana, the Dajti Hotel and the Palace of Brigades”, Mero declared.
“These are details for the realization of the Palace of Brigades, for which Petro Kocinari has worked. We are trying to bring these documents from the state archive to the technical archive”, declared Architect Artan Shkreli.
Architect Agron Jano was remembered in this room as one of the people who have given important values in architecture, but also at the Central Archive.
