Money stolen from Bank will be paid by citizens. Top Channel learned
about the scheme that will be used by the Central Bank to burden
taxpayers with the cost of the stolen money, by reducing the profit that
the Bank transfers at the state budget.

The stolen money reduced the bank’s capital with 713 million ALL, or 7.1 million USD. The directors have decided to recover the lost capital, which means that the state budget for the next year will have 7.1 million missing, money that could have been used for investments or other services for the citizens.

Top Channel learned that there have been many discussions between the Bank of Albania and the Ministry of Finances about this matter. But the final decision was up to the Bank, and their decision is that the citizens will have to pay for the stolen money.

The official version of the Bank is that the money that was lost mounts up to 713 million ALL, but the Prosecution suspects that the real figure could be even bigger. If these suspicions are proven, the government not only will not take any profit from the Bank of Albania, but might be obliged to take another debt for the missing capital, since the Prosecution has failed so far to find the missing money.
