The Stebleva commune in Librazhd district gets isolated by snow for four
months a year, but yet they don’t have a health center that covers the
needs of this community.
Residents say that the building which once served as a health center has now turned into a center for the habitation center for the commune’s chief accountant. But even before, according to residents, this center has never functioned for its purpose since its construction 18 years ago, since doctors don’t normally go there.
On the other hand, being unable to put it in function, the Stebleva head of commune says that he is often obliged to use the commune’s vehicles to transport patients to the Librazhd hospital.
“There have been cases of chronic diseases and births. We have been obliged to sent them to hospital with the commune’s vehicle, but we have received no help from the state”, declared Albana Fejzo, Head of the Commune.
The Stebleva commune has 10.000 residents who are obliged to travel for dozens of kilometers to the center of Librazhd, the closest hospital.
