The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, is attending a visit in the
kingdom of Netherlands, a skeptic country that had influence in the
postponement of the EU candidate status this December.
Rama started his series of meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr.Timmermans. The details about the meeting are still unknown, and even if Netherlands has made any statement regarding their position in the June elections.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, published a photo with this comment: “With the Dutch Foreign Minister, Timmermans, who congratulated us for the convincing governing of these months”.
Rama’s visit continued to the Dutch Prime Minister’s office, where he was received by his counterpart, Prime Minister Mark Rutte. According to our correspondent, the Dutch leaders have valued the government’s reforms.
It seems that the Dutch government appeared more optimistic than in December, however, things will depend on the report of the European Commission and the fact that the government will be consulted with the Parliament.
As for the meeting, Rama declared that it was held “for the real progress of Albania and why Europe needs Balkan as much as Balkan needs Europe”.
This visit of the Prime Minister was held a few weeks before the Council of Ministers will meet in June for the candidate status. Rama met with representatives of the Chamber of Senate at the Dutch Parliament, and later will hold a speech at the Hague institution regarding global justice.
After the meeting was over, he declared: “Intensive meetings, open conversation, a good will from all Dutch partners and friends to listen us to the end. Above everything, pride for the work done in these months, which needs to be seen and not only evaluated. This is a solid bases for speaking openly and asking for what we deserve.
We should have received since December what we deserved. There are more reasons to receive it in June, and we hope that with the end of the European elections, it will be easier to not become prey of internal debates and prejudice, as it happened last December and as it is clear for those who have eyes to see how the Europe of today works.
We are convinced that the Progress-Report will be the bases of judgment for all member countries. We want to believe that none of the member countries will avoid the commitment made in December. We need another report to show that the biggest progress noted in the first months of the government is consolidated, and this would be enough for the member countries to give their opinion. We’ll see, because Europe is less predictable and busier with its own future with the problems of today”, Rama declared.
Bushati visits Denmark
The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, attended an official visit in Denmark today, one of the five skeptic countries that requested more time in December for the European Union candidate status of Albania.
During his visit, the Albanian Chief Diplomat met with the Danish homologue, Lidegaard. In this meeting they discussed about deepening the cooperation between the two countries and about the European perspective of Albania.
Bushati updated Lidergaard about the reforms undertaken by the new government, especially in the fight against corruption and organized crime. He thanked Denmark about the constant support given to the integration processes of our country.
“Albania’s EU integration remains a major priority fo the government and enjoys wide support from all Albanian citizens and politicians”, Mr.Bushati declared.
The visit of the Albanian Chief Diplomat in Copenhagen coincides with the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and with the publishing of the first data from the European Parliament elections, where the political anti-EU forces triumphed in countries such as Britain and France, and had a significant increase in other countries.
