“A good day for Albania and a won battle for the Alliance for European
Albania”. This is how the Albanian PM, Edi Rama, described the positive
stance for the candidate status by the 28 Foreign Ministers in
Luxembourg.

“This is a very clear sign for the direction of our path, which today has more hope and perpsective for all the Albanian people. What we achieved shows clearly that we can achieve everything if we have the right plan and the right people. As we showed that our team is up for this challenge, I guarantee that our plan and oiur team will give other results so that the people can find reasons for joy”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister thanked all of his collaborators, and also the opposition. But most of all he thanked the Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Commission of Integration, member of the opposition and former Minister of Integration, Majlinda Bregu.

Rama also thanked the European leaders who stood to the European project, which cannot be complete without Albania and Balkan.

While the candidate status is accompanies by strong conditions for negotiations, Top Channel asked PM Rama about when he planned opening the negotiations.

“The status is like an engagement. There are some conditions that you have to complete before getting married. The process will be even more intensive, the path will be more difficult, and the challenge even bigger. We are convinced that we will make it”, Rama underlined.

In the joint press release, Klajda Gjosha, Minister of Integration, considered the positive news from Brussels as a double responsibility, which she illustrated with a quote from Churchill.

“We cannot put a date on this process, but the message we received shows that this process works and the aspirations of the Albanian people will soon turn into reality. This is not the end, or the beginning of the end, but this is the end of the beginning”, Gjosha declared.

The Prime Minister added that they would not plan any mega-concert, since his government simply did its job. He announced the organization of a decent ceremony, where everyone will be invited, including his predecessor Sali Berisha.

Rama warned radical changes in the judiciary

“The ‘Gate’ of courts should resign on their own”

The Head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, warned corrupted judges to leave their posts or face the government’s initiatives for ending corruption in justice.

“We will hit corrupted judges. The June 23rd mandate is very clear. We have the consensus of 84 votes. We will use it, because we cannot be ashamed in front of the world. Criminals shoot and kill people, than they pay the people of the judiciary to be free again”, Rama declared.
