State owned hospital treatment

Our hospitals have different costs in treating the same illness. The Health Care Insurance Institution noted that these cost
changes are due to the uneven distribution of investments. The hospitals
that lack of equipments or of qualified doctors have higher treatment
cost.

Surgery in a municipality hospital costs 55.000 ALL, while the same service costs 45.000 ALL in a regional hospital. A big change is noted in Pathology.

“Prices vary even to three times for the same diagnosis. Regional and third hand hospitals need the appropriate conditions for having the same service package, in accordance with well coordinated protocols”, declared the director of HCII, Elvana Hana.

The Health Minister, Petrit Vasili, declared that the health reform has started, but considerable funds are needed for its completion, although the first benefits have been felt.

“The need for a quick reform is vital, and the inclusion of any new element in our system is not only welcomed, but it vitalizes and gives new motives to the system, so that it can be more stable”, Vasili declared.

HCII is working for a full implementation of the Health Insurance law, which aims to guarantee equal access of the entire population for well coordinated health services.
