Within March 31st, all service for the cardiology, cardio-surgery,
hemodialysis, kidney and liver transplant, will be ready with the real
cost as assessed by groups of doctors and professors. This assessment
will be the basis for the agreement with non-public hospitals.
“An accurate measurement of the cost for these services will enable a real contraction by the Health Security Fund, offered for the public and private service. The real cost information and competition will help lowering prices in the private sector, for which the Insurance Fund will contact these services”, declared Astrit Beci, Director of the Health Insurance Fund.
Renowned professors and surgeons asked that the cost of surgeries should be the same in both public and private sectors. He underlined that the results have been more efficient in the public hospital.
“When these packages will be ready, the money should be given equally. The price at the state hospital is two or three times cheaper”, declared Arben Gjata, a surgeon.
“The public hospital should not be considered a slave that works for free. It should be paid for every service. I am sure that you are interested to have more operations at the state hospital, because that would make it cheaper for the system. Especially for the fact that the state hospital has the best staff for now”, declared Dr.Artan Goda, Head of the Cardiology Service.
