The Supreme State Audit held an annual report this Monday, underlining
that the criminal reports in the past four years have increased with 3.2
times, but officials have remained impunished.
As for the energy sector, Director Bujar Leskaj said that his institution has reported a high-level state official for the CEZ situation, but then he received attacks from politicians.
The Director underlined that the SSA has received support from the Parliamentary Commission of Economy, and promised stay out of politics in their activity.
Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla, present in this report session, valued the importance of the partnership between the Prosecution and the SSA in the fight against financial crime. “Thanks to the SSA we arrested the former Minister of Labor”, PG Llalla said, adding that every official who abuses with his duty must be brought to justice.
The Minister of Justice, Ylli Manjani, said that the need for audits is indispensable in every government. The Chairman of the Commission of Economy, Erion Brace, declared that 2015 has a law that makes the SSA stronger and this institution will be the one choosing the auditors, without any intervention.
