The second day of the Scientific Conference for the Supreme State Audit
was held this Thursday in Tirana. The US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu,
underlined that the Supreme State Audit is a very important institution,
whose credibility and professionalism helps shedding light on public
procurements, government spending and recruiting.
According to the US ambassador, it is very necessary for a democratic country to have an independent Supreme State Audit, since they guard the people’s assets.
“A democratic society needs good auditors, because they are the guards that shed light on procurements, employments and government spending”, Arvizu declared.
Arvizu underlined that the auditors should be trained and be given access to the government. He asid that they must cooperate and participate in various training.
The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, valued the work of the Supreme State Audit in defending the public assets. He added that the independence and impartiality of this institution are necessary elements in the fight against corruption.
“Public money does not belong to any individual, but to the state only. I believe that the good experience that the Supreme State Audit has created to far should be seen every day in its activity”, Nishani declared.
