The Ministry of Economy is ready to announce the winner for building the first economic area in Albania.
Top Channel has learned that the Bid Evaluation Commission has selected the 3G company as the best offer for this job.
The result has not been announced yet, since the second best bidder has filed a complaint against the Ministry’s decision.
Two bids were offered in total. The first one included a 93 million EUR investment for building industrial facilities. The second one foresaw the establishing a chrome enriching plant for 30 million EUR.
The bid evaluation commission listed the project for the chrome plant as a better option, but the second company filed a complaint.
The Ministry says that the official result will be declared only after the complaint is reviewed.
This is the fourth time that Albania tries to build a free economic area. It has always failed in the past due to the lack of interest. The winner may be more possible this time, since the project is also much smaller than before.
