Special unit for Energy Distribution abusing employees

The government has created a special unit that will investigate the
employees of the Electricity Distribution Operator, who cooperate in
stealing energy.
“It will be a unit independent from the Electricity Distribution Operator. It will focus on the connection of employees with criminal acts, such as illegal connections. They will cooperate with the police and will have full data access. There will also be independent searches for identifying the cases outside the Electricity Distribution Operator structure”, said the Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri.
This unit will cooperate with the responsible institutions that have information about the consumers, such as the Business Registration Center, the Immovable Property Registration Office and the Tax Directory.
The Minister of Energy says that most of the theft are made in cooperation with the employees, for whom there will be the same punishment as for those who steal.
“There are more than 115 people who have been arrested. Many people are being aware of the situation and are paying. Those who had illegal connections are dismantling them, because this campaign will not stop”, Gjiknuri declared.
