Special Court, Kosovo PM to Ambassadors: “Our duty is to hear the Parliament”

Despite the warnings from the US and British ambassadors against the decision to discuss repealing the Special Court, the government of Kosovo seems determined to continue with it

“We implement the obligations that our government has to the country, but our obligations derive from the Parliament. If the Parliament votes differently, we will implement it. I was hired and voted by the Parliament”, Haradinaj said.

President Hashim Thaci responded to ambassadors through a Twitter post, saying that there are speculations.

“Amidst speculations, it’s important that everyone continues to be confident about Kosovo’s future and its democratic processes. Kosovo’s society and leadership remain fully committed to democracy, rule of law, reconciliation, dialogue and relations on an equal and fair basis”, Thaci wrote.

However, many of the MPs who signed the request for the session that would discuss the repeal of the Special Court have changed their minds, saying that they were tricked into signing and that they didn’t know the real purpose of the session.

The Self-Determination Movement as well, which has been against the creation of this court, says that Thaci and Haradinaj rushed with this decision.
