Speaker Ruci: “Cannabis in 2016 was wrong”

“One of the mistakes was that the law-enforcing institutions that should control the territory for cannabis didn’t accomplish their mission. At what level, this is debatable, but it’s not like they weren’t there at all. There have been dirty money in past campaigns as well, this is why we need to reflect on the new electoral code and find new ways to stop it”, he said.

Ruci said that the failure of the law-enforcing agencies for preventing the cultivation of cannabis was a mistake, but he didn’t mention the case of Saimir Tahiri.

“For cases like that of Saimir Tahiri, politicians should leave it to the justice institutions. They should not talk about the case until justice has been expressed for the case in question”, Ruci declared.

He said that if the Interior Minister was unable to keep it under his control in 2016, the measures taken in 2017 against cannabis were very harsh and this only honors the government.
