Speaker Ruci bans Basha from session

While the Parliament was expected to vote the establishing of the
electoral reform commission, a request made by the opposition for having
discussions about it, brought what wasn’t expected: the opposition
leader was removed from the session.

The majority said the request was outside the regulation and rejected it. “I cannot accept that we become instruments of the Democratic Party agenda”, declared the Head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla.

Speaker Ruci proposed to postpone it to the next session, but the situation deteriorated after the voting, when the opposition leader insisted for their right to discuss the draft-decision of the reform.

“This Parliament is degrading each day more. You have the most important matter of Albanians today, the electoral reform, and you try to shut the opposition’s mouth. This will never happen. You are scared. You have the Elbasan event on one hand, and the Elbasan road on the other. But this is your problem”, Basha said.

The Speaker warned Basha two times to leave the podium or he would be banned. “Don’t occupy the podium, because I don’t want to start the session with your banning. Please sit down, Mr.Basha”, Ruci appealed.

The Parliament Speaker didn’t hesitate to ban Basha the third time. The session was interrupted several times, but the opposition didn’t leave the room.
