Speaker Meta confirms coalition with SP, speaks presidentially about current situation

The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, said that it is very easy
for their coalition with the Socialist Party to win the elections.
“The SP-SMI coalition won against Berisha’s government, won against a Central Election Commission that was modified anticonstitutionally and was entirely led by the Democratic Party”, Meta said.
However, with an almost presidential tone, he asked parties to reduce tension and continue with reforms and democracy. He also appealed the opposition to be part of the elections, in order to increase trust.
“Edi Rama is not the Prime Minister of the Socialist Party and of this coalition. He is Prime Minsiter of all of Albania, and his constitutional obligation is to guarantee and offer full trust for free and fair elections. He must invite in dialogue, but he must also leave no room for the opposition to escalate an unacceptable rhetoric, speaking about arrests and things like that”, Meta said.
