The Parliament Speaker of Albania, Ilir Meta, attended a visit with the
Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the United Kingdom, also Minister
for the Parliament, David Lidington.
Meta said that Great Britain is a very important partner for Albania, especially for the rule of law, democracy, fight against terror and against organized crime.
In this direction, Meta said, inter-parliamentary relations need to be deepened even further.
Lidington underlined that the UK wants to deepen the relations with Albania, especially for the justice system and security cooperation.
Meta and Lidington discussed the justice reform matter, and the British minister valued the passing of the constitutional reform with full consensus. He considered it a positive development for increasing foreign investments and for the future of the relations between both countries.
Meta noted that the increased British investments is welcome in Albania, especially four tourism, energy, etc.
Meta continued his visit with Bob Neil, Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of Justice, with whom he discussed about the justice reform too.
Mr.Neil greeted the passing of the reform and said that consensus has a special importance.
Meta expressed his gratitude for Britain’s constant support and underlined that Albania will be based on the British experience in this regard.
