The Strategic Planning Committee approved the mid-term budget plan for
the 2013-2020 period where a review of the macro-economic framework is
made.
Prime Minister Berisha paid attention to some strategic development areas of the country, starting from the energy sector, the national irrigation sector and the Digital Albania project, about the development of the education and health system in the country.
One of the main parts of this budget program is the pension reform, but up to now there has been no official public draft about how this reform will be made.
According to Prime Minister Berisha, “the World Bank has prepared on of the best platforms, and this project is privately accepted by the opposition, but publicly rejected by them”.
Although this is not a law that demands qualified majority, the head of the Albanian government declared that it is necessary for the pension reform to have good understanding on both political sides, since this system will be established for the next 30-40 years.
Berisha guaranteed that the government will continue its efforts for convincing the opposition about the World Bank project, which, according to Berisha, “aims only to develop paths and opportunities for supporting pensioners”.
Berisha also declared that this law aims the improvement of a system that was established 20 years ago, and that today needs another shape.
