The Apostille regime between Spain and Albania was just lifted, making
it easier, cheaper and faster for citizens to legalize documents. After
Italy, Belgium and Germany, Spain is the fourth EU country that joins
the Hague Convention.

The Foreign Minister of Albania, Ditmir Bushati, asked Greece to join and implement the Hague Convention for abolishing the Apostille regime, which would save time and money to citizens.

“Such decision would follow the line of other EU countries, it would inject positive energy on our bilateral relations. It would reduce costs for legalization of documents, and make it easier for people to communicate with each other. I am hopeful that we will have progress with this, because we are working hard every day to guarantee safe, transparent and cheaper consular services, so that we can eliminate queues and make them the communication of documents affordable for every person”, Minister Bushati said.

Every document issued by Albanian institutions and which is required in Spain, will now be produced with the Apostille stamp already on it. It will be accepted by Spanish institutions without having to wait until it is legalized by the respective Foreign Ministries. This will save citizens 20 EUR and will take half of the processing time.

The documents issued by Spanish authorities will also be accepted in Albania with just the Apostille stamp, saving citizens 20 Euroes and cutting the waiting time.
