The activity of the former State Security and the history of the 50-year communist dictatorship in Albania will be part of the education of the students of the pre-university system.
This digital platform is preceded by a publication entitled “Spaç, the history of a revolt”. In a part of the confession of a former political convict it is said: “We were transferred to Spaç in April 1968. They loaded us into cars with our things and what we had with us. We were tied to each other with wires, as they took us to Spaç of Mirdita”, he says referring to the infamous prison in northeastern Albania.
Gentiana Sula, Chairperson of the Files Authority explains further: “In this project, the Minister of Education, the Council of Europe and especially the Observatory for Education, which has a very significant motto ‘History in the heart’, are involved, because it is about not repeating mistakes, to heal wounds and consolidate democracy”.
The story is told by Sara Hoxha, an influencer who had her grandfather imprisoned in the Spaç prison.
“With the Archives Authority we have started cooperation to build a pedagogical platform accessible online by all students and teachers, but also by families and parents, in order to confront the past”, says Villano Qiriazi, Head of the Department of Education of the Council of Europe.
