SP: Integration, not Gaddafi propaganda

Albania’s EU integration is closely tied to the performance of the
institutions, especially the Parliament, where the opposition returned
this Monday.

But which will be the road that the opposition’s will follow for the integration processes, including its missed contribution, as the Integration Minsiter, Majlinda Bregu declared? These and other questions take an answer from the MP Ditmir Bushati.

“We returned in the Parliament because we are very interested for Albania’s EU integration. We have given, we are giving and we will always give our contribution for integration, which goes beyond political divisions. We made this since December 2010, one month after the opinion of the EU Commission for Albania, through a resolution that was rejected with persistence by the majority. And here we are one year later. For us, none of these EU criteria are fulfilled by the government. You will not have the luxury to find the Albanian opposition rubbing hands together by the government’s failure in the EU integration process”, Bushati declared.

Mr. Bushati considers the EU integration not simply propaganda, but inconsistency of wills.

“The Albanian opposition is intensively working, inciting every government segment to fulfill the obligations that derive from the EU integration process. We are also working for not turning the EU integration into a Gaddafist propaganda, as the propaganda with the pension, when the government is telling pensioners that they are making miracles for them, increasing pensions each year, when they increasing the pension age. We don’t want the integration propaganda to end this way, but we want a full set of reforms for building the state. We will be in the Parliament and will continue our work for imposing our vision on the construction of a European Albania”, Bushati declared.

Bushati declared that the 12 EU priorities are a spectacular failure of the government.

“The Albanian opposition doesn’t have obligations, for not fulfilling the EU obligations in this process. The entire rhetoric against the opposition, with magic words and confused anger, shows nothing more than a spectacular failure of this government for fulfilling the specific criteria set by Brussels”, Bushati underlined.

The second criterion in Brussels’ priority list is the passing of the laws that require 35th of the Parliament votes. It remains to be seen if the Socialist MPs will vote these laws.

“SP made it clear that we cannot vote patches of laws that are trying to be sold to Brussels and international partners as laws in favor of integration. We will contribute for a better lawmaking, especially for the laws that you mentioned, that require 35th of the votes. Because more important than making laws, for us is their implementation”, Bushati declared.

Regardless the declarations from both parties, the EU progress report will be the one to show the real picture of whether this process has progressed and where it has not.
