The Socialist Party has celebrated the 22nd anniversary of foundation
this Monday. The party was held a few days later, since the Socialists
were on electoral capaign on June 12th.
The Socialist Party leader and next Prime Minister, Edi Rama, thanked the voters and allies, and promised to push the new executive government to realize Albania’s revival.
“I wish a happy 22nd anniversary of the Socialist Party to the people who are here, and to the 1 million voters. I want to thank the Revival Teams in every district. After some troubled years, today we celebrate a landslide victory which we achieved united, and united we will celebrate our revival. I want to thank the Socialist Movement for Integration and Ilir Meta for everything they did. Time will prove what the June 23rd elections have produced. The Socialist Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration are two parties that can make the history of this country as a single power”, Rama declared.
The Socialist Party leader underlined that the new government will engage in serving the Albanian citizens without making divisions.
“Our duty as elected by people, is to completely dedicate ourselves to the people. If we would forget that this vote is for our country and not for us, the damage would be huge. It would be a bitter disappointment for the people that voted us, but also for those who didn’t vote us”, Rama declared.
Rama made a summary of the Socialist Party battles in the opposition, by mentioning a series of events, some of which are also bitter.
“As leader of the Socialist Party, and us, as Socialist Party, decided a series of objectives to return to power with a new vision, a new program and new politics. We had difficult battles. Elections were stolen, mud was thrown agains us, we held numerous strikes and even a hunger strike. We lost four innocent lives who I hope that today have found more peace, and to whom I promise that I will never find peace until justice will be made for their death. But we made it in the best way possible. We gave ourselves with the June 23rd victory the right to end our stay in the opposition”, Rama declared.
The leader of the new majority in Parliament thanked some people who unfortunately are not among us anymore.
“I would love to have among us some people such as Dritan Hoxha, who built a great institution; Ardian Klosi, who fought for the rights and freedom. I want to thank both of them”, Rama declared, promising that the new government will have a new approach to press.
“We can revive our country only if we are together. Hence, I invite every Albanian to join us to revive this country. Let’s walk faster on the revival path and integration. Happy birthday, Socialist Party”, Rama declared.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, was also invited in this celebration, together with the historic leader of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano.
