While the Central Election Commission is working only with the four
members proposed by the majority, and while the international community
is warning that without a complete Central Election Commission there can
be no elections, the Socialist Party expressed its readiness to find a
solution that will guarantee the credibility of the elections.

For this reason, the Socialist MP, Vasilika Hysi, declared that “each day more the Albanians are seeing clearly that Berisha’s efforts to destroy the Central Election Commission have turned into a source of alarm for all the international partners of Albania”.

“The Socialist Party is ready to work for finding a solution that would guarantee the integrity and credibility of the June 23rd elections. We invite the outgoing Prime Minister to listen to the reason and the concerns that don’t come only from the Socialist Party and the opposition, but from all the strategic partners of Albania in these delicate moments for our country”, Hysi declared.

Edi Rama and Damian Gjiknuri are meeting the head of the OSCE in Vienna, Lamberto Zannier. Rama announced on Twitter: “Meeting the General Secretary of the OSCE in Vienna, Lamberto Zannier. The elections are a test for Albania, and the Central Election Commission crisis is the focus of this fruitful conversation”.

In today’s meeting, the four remaining Central Election Commission member approved the request of the Socialist Movement for Integration to replace the United for Human Rights Party representatives in the Electoral Commissions. The Socialist Movement for Integration presented this request after changing sides and joining the opposition.
