The Parliamentary Commission which investigates the privatization of the
electricity distributing system to the Czech company, CEZ, summoned the
son of former PM Sali Berisha, Shkelzen Berisha, as witness.

Shkelzen Berisha, same as his father, refused to take the oath and said that the Chairman of this commission, Taulant Balla, was found guilty by a court for slander against his expense.

Balla answered that if he doesn’t take the oath, his testimony would be invalid. Arben Ristani, member of the Democratic Party in this commission, said the conflict of interest is real, and if Balla really wants to collect his testimony,  he must resolve this issue first.

Shkelzen Berisha was told by Balla to leave the room, and outside he told the media that he could not give a declaration to the MP who has been found guilty for slander against his name. Berisha added he had nothing to do with Kalaj, Ismailaj and other names mentioned in the case.

Balla said for the media that Shkelzin Berisha’s name appeared after investigating the movements of Nue Kalaj, who had withdrawn 7 million EUR from a bank, which were sent to him from Prague, for mediating the CEZ agreement. According to Balla, Shkelzen Berisha is mentioned in one his e-mail. Balla promised that the investigation would continue.
