Private operators are showing higher interest solar power parks, but the government wants entrepreneurs to show restraint, because the Albanian market cannot afford large quantities of electricity and with higher price, which will be paid by consumers.
So far, there are incentives for small investments up to 50 MW, by not touching agricultural lands, according to Energy Minister Damian Gjiknuri.
Albania offers 100 EUR per MW, for the solar power, a price much higher than other energy forms. The government is also studying ways to reduce taxes for those who put solar panels for self-usage.
