“The most difficult thing for me this morning was choosing the color of
my tie. Violet is in, but the Socialist Party Revival took it from us.
Blue is in too, but it would bring misunderstandings soon. Red would
mean that Sokol Balla has started walking very fast, so I chose Green.
But colors in Albania are quickly judged, and probably Alexander Arvizu
will say that Balla chose a green tie to show his solidarity with the
protesters against the chemical weapons in front of the United States
Embassy”.

This is how journalist Sokol Balla started the presentation of his new book “A Good Year”, in presence of ambassadors, politicians and colleagues, focusing on the importance of this book which collects the most important political events of this year.

“This book that is being promoted in this moment of strong debates about Syria’s chemical weapons, which will most probably be disposed in Albania, could serve as a moment of reflection for the politicians. One of the main reasons that brought the June 23rd elections’s result, more than the mistakes and merits of the past government, was the ignoring of the public opinion and the arrogance in taking decisions, often without transparency and by avoiding public debate. As an American president has once said, politicians should keep in mind when take decisions to not see what their judgment is worth, but what the judgment of others is worth about them”, Balla declared.

Publisher Henri Cili presented Balla’s book and considered 2013 a victory of Balla’s program on Top Channel, “Top Story”.

“Balla’s book has 13 interviews and his respective notes. These 13 interviews cover the main events that marked the peaceful power rotation in 2013. I may say that Top Story is the one that won against ‘Opinion’, even though I was part of ‘Opinion’”, Cili declared.

The United States Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, has also given a comment about this book. He considered Balla an excellent journalist and colleague, who has shown high values in his career.

“Balla is an extraordinary political journalist. He has a huge experience and he has done many things in his career. He has an excellent access to the people and he is an excellent political analysts. Regardless if I agree with him or not, and I have experienced them both, he is an excellent colleague and I hugely respect him”, Arvizu declared.

“Good Year” is a collection of reflections and interviews that judge Sokol Balla has conducted in his show Top Story. The book is divided in four chapters: President, Americans, Democratic Party, the Rama’s and there’s an epilogue wih Tony Blair. In the “good year” 2013, 100 years after the “bad year” 1913, Balla’s book with 13 interviews and 13 characters comes to the readers on November 13th.
