The Minister of Urban Development, Eglantina Gjermeni, declared that the
soft loan program for sheltering the families in need turned into a
corruptive scheme that deviated the money in the pockets of militants
and state officials.
“The program of soft loans aimed sheltering the people in need. What we found proves that the soft loans have been used in many cases to support militants and people who are close to the government, losing the goal for what they were created”, Gjermeni declared.
When summoned for the Parliamentary Commission of Economy, Mrs.Gjermeni declared that the families that were removed from the past government from their apartments were left in the middle of the streets.
The minister who is responsible for sheltering declared that the government is ending abuses in this area, by excluding all officials from soft loans and by taking a series of measures to facilitate the life of the people in need.
“We are working for finding an alternative solution to sheltering, by cooperating with the associations of builders and for allowing local units to buy from the stock of buildings and distribute apartment through the Fund of Development Bank at the Council of Europe”, Gjermeni declared.
The Minister added that the government will review the legislation that regulates the sheltering relations, starting with the creation of a strategic plan.
