The deputy of the Socialist Party in power, Rahman Rraja, has resigned from the mandate of the deputy, after the event in Borizane village, where his family members are recorded brutally beating two local residents who complained about the work of the quarry near their houses.

“I have no words to express the embarrassment to all those who have trusted me all these years. Unfortunately, I failed as a parent and I feel publicly shamed by my son”, he added as the brother and son of the deputy were seen in the video of the beating.

“I apologize to my friends and colleagues in the parliamentary group and declare the surrender of the mandate of the deputy and my withdrawal from political life. I apologize to those who have voted for me since 2000 as mayor and for 2 terms as deputy. I apologize to the victims of that shameful violence for my family”, declared Rraja.

As he expresses himself ‘ashamed’ of the incident when two residents near the quarries were beaten with hard objects by his relatives, Rraja asks his son, Rexhep Rraja, to surrender to the police.

“I call on my son to surrender to justice. May God give me strength to face this great pain and life to atone for this shame left on my shoulders by my son. In the end, thanks and apologies to the party chairman and the prime minister, who did not owe me this great public concern that I caused,” added Rraja, referring to PM Rama.
