23 minors, most arrested for robbery, were released after a recent
amnesty. Parents who were waiting them blame themselves and the
environment.

“There is a bad environment for children and for everyone. I couldn’t have the chance to keep my son under watch. His father couldn’t control him and we ended up like this”, declared Luiza Kaloshi, mother of a child who was released.

“I was sentenced for burglary. I robbed because of unemployment, the school and many other things”, declared Alketa Allisha, sentenced for robbery.

“I robbed to gamble and play pool”, declared Artur Marko, another prisoner who was just released.

Kujtime Xhafa, 49, from Rrogozhina, is a single mother with five kids. She begged on the streets to get the ticket money to Kavaja for meeting her son.

“I begged on the street and arrived here to take my son. I have begged because I don’t have anything. I needed the money to come and take my son”, she declared.

She is the mother of Lulzim Xhafa, a silent 17-year-old who is the only one not laughing after getting out. Psychologists say that he didn’t have even money for clothes in prison.

Lulzim lives in neighborhood nr.2 of Rrogozhina. His sister was waiting for him and today she didn’t get out to collect old cans. The house of this 17-year-old who looks like he never had a childhood, is an improvised room with furniture found abandoned around.
