Those who smoke in closed public places will be fined together with the
bar owners. The anti-tobacco law has change, and these amends might make
it applicable.
Klodian Rrjepaj, Deputy Health Minister: “We will penalize not only bar owners, but also those who smoke. A novelty of this law is the inclusion of public figures, who will have higher fines.
Common people who will be caught smoking in public places will be fined with 5,000 ALL. The bar administers will be fined with 50,000 ALL, while bar owners with 300,000 ALL.
There have been problems with collecting the fines and making it an executive order. It goes through the Tax Directory, while for common people and public figures, the fine will be based on the identity card. They will pay the fine in a bank account that will be opened for this purpose”, Rrjepaj explained.
When individuals don’t have an identity card, the police will be called. The inspectorates involved in this are the Health Inspectorate, the Environment Inspectorate, the Transportation Inspectorate, the Fire Protection Inspectorate, the National Food Authority inspectorate, which have the right to give fines.
