The situation in Elbasan remains critical, as fires continue for more than 24 hours.
Hundreds of people are fighting against the flames, while the city woke up with huge smoke clouds coming from what was called “the city’s lungs”.
Firefighters from Elbasan, Librazhd, Peqin, Gramsh, Lushnje, the army and private companies have been fighting the flames for the past 24 hours.
“Almost 100 hectares were burned, but the good news is that the fire got only bushes and low plants, not higher trees”, declared Klevis Xhoxhi, Vice Mayor of Elbasan.
