SMI, Vasili: “DP must address Brussels for their claims”

The vice leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Petrit
Vasili, recommended the Democratic Party to address the EU with their
claims for the justice reform.

“The DP must ask the EU and Brussels’ highest levels about their claims and find a solution with them about the only matter that blocks consensus”, said Vasili in a press release.

The second person in charge of the SMI said that the EU must guarantee to open the accession negotiations if the reform is voted unilaterally.

“If the opposition doesn’t agree with the EU, the latter must guarantee that they will start the negotiations”, Vasili said.

Vasili says that these guarantees are necessary because it is about taking a very important step that will lead to another very important one, the integration process.

“We don’t have time. Every second matters”, he added, and answered to the media:

Top Channel: You requested the Democratic Party to address Brussels, and Brussels to give us guarantees. Do you have a request for Prime Minister Rama too, being a protagonist? If the last negotiation date was today, would all 20 SMI members vote in favor?”

Vasili: We did not request the DP to go to Brussels. We suggested them to do this. As for the Prime Minister, there is nothing we can request him. He has been very clear about the red lines. As for the SMI votes, we don’t need to confirm anything. We confirmed it a few days ago at the justice reform commission.
