The Socialist Movement for Integration met with US and EU ambassadors,
presenting their concerns about the decisions taken by the Task Force
for the Elections, the presence of police and the decision taken
recently by the Central Election Commission. SMI also met with the
Chairman of the Monitoring Mission of the Parliamentary Elections 2017.
“The objective of this meeting was to make an update about the political situation in our country. We informed them about the arbitrary and illegal action of a Task Force which is trying to make politicial cleansing on the public administration. We have documented dozens of occasions, which shows an attempt to contaminate and deform the Constitutional principles and the implementation of the electoral law.
The other matter, is the political abuse and against the law of the police structures, which is making political prosecutions of supporters and candidates of the SMI, while abandoning the fight against criminal groups and people with a criminal past, who were released recently from prison to be used as their political staff.
Thirdly, we informed them about the latest decision of the Central Election Commission regarding the ballot counters. Based on the Constitution and on the Electoral Code, referring to the acts CEC mentioned, this procedure belonged to the SMI. They decided to not cast polls with another party, while the Electoral Code, above CEC, has defined very clearly how the parliamentary majority and minority is divided, referring to the elections of 2013”, said Luan Rama.
