Five months after Top-Channel’s “Fiks Fare” program broadcasted the
video scandal Meta-Prifti, regarding corruption affairs, the General
Prosecution closed the investigations and accuses Meta at the Supreme
Court, former vice-prime minister and also former Minister of Energy.

The General Prosecution accuses the former vice Prime Minister and leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration of consuming active corruption in the position of a high governmental official, based on article 245. Awaiting the Supreme Court to assign the college that will judge Meta, the General Prosecution ended with their investigation any political debate on the pretenses that the video was edited, after two investigations being done on the video and audio, by American and British experts.

More concretely, the General Prosecution pretends in front of the Supreme Court that Meta has consumed this criminal act during the conversation with the former minister Dritan Prifti, a discussion recorded by Prifti in his office, on March 2010. During this recorded discussion, Meta orders Prifti to favor a private company, mentioning 700,000 Euros or 7% of the shares. After “Fiks Fare” broadcasted these affairs, the Tirana prosecution started the investigation, but due to the immunity of Meta and Prifti, the case was transferred at the General Prosecution.

The General Prosecution has appealed the vice Prime Minister to communicate him the accusation, but after his refusal, the General Prosecution communicated the charges by mail. Meanwhile, the General Prosecution is continuing the investigations for Dritan Prifti and another video discovered by the American expert, which shows Prifti with another high-rank official, vice minister Leonard Beqiri, also under investigation.
