SMI creates budget approval stalemate

The increased taxes for the manufactoring industry have created a
stalemate in the Albanian government. The SMI proposed the tax on profit
for these businesses to remain 10%, but it wasn’t accepted by the
government.

The government rejected even the proposition of the Commission for Economy, the Socialist MP Erjon Brace, who said that it would create problems for the budget, if the investment is inside the Albanian territory.

With the new scheme proposed by the government, the tax on profit on manufacturing companies increases from 10% to 15%, by putting in danger the finances of this industry, which is the biggest employer in the country.

MP Dashamir Shehi proposed another scheme, for the tax on profit to go at 7.5%, same as the small business. The Deputy Minister of Finances asked to review this measure until Friday.
