The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, gave the first details of the
project that was launched a few weeks ago, that of equipping consumers
with smart energy meters.
The Chief of the Government said that the cost of these meters will not be paid by citizens, because they are looking for another option.
“One of the biggest international groups, Deutsche Telecom, has made a cooperation offer with a pilot project that will allow us to understand the efficiency of these meters in various areas, suchj as Allias, Bathore, along the Highway, the “Tregu I 5 Majit”. They will give us all the elements for starting an open process for discussing the terms and everything”, Rama declared.
The Prime Minister said that this investment will be the final liberation of Albania from a crisis that has held the future of our country hostage for decades.
“Our objective is that in these five years, we can give to any Albanian the possibility to have a serious and correct service. So that they do not pay more than what they consume. This will increase the efficiency for exploiting this resource. There will be a notable drop of losses and it will be the second liberation of Albania”, Rama declared.
In the activity “energetic recovery”, the OSHEE Director and Minister of Economic Development, declared that the reform and the measures taken so far are giving the first results for reestablishing the sector.
“The level of losses went down at 36.7%. 10.3% less losses, compred to 2014, or 14.4% less than the same period of 2013. In the first month of the year we collected 6.2 billion ALL. This means 57% more than in January 2014, and 128% more than the same period of 2013”, declared the administrator of the OSHEE, Ardian Cela.
“The budget this year has blocked more than 80 million USD as a risk fund for the energy sector. Only through these months, through increasing the encasing and deepening the reform in the energy sector, we can save minimally 20 million USD”, declared the Minister of Economy, Arben Ahmetaj.
