From the Bled Forum, held in Slovenia, Foreign Minister of the hosting country, Miro Cerar, has asked the opening of the EU accession negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia.
This request was made during the meetings that Cerar held with his Finnish and Spanish counterpart. The latter has also been a candidate for the post of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy.
Cerar underlined the importance of opening the negotiations with the two Balkan countries this October, at the summit of EU leaders.
This commitment of Slovenia to support the EU accession negotiations with Tirana and Skopje is also part of their plan to lead the EU Commission for Enlargement.
Lubjana has proposed Janez Lenarčič to replace Hahn in this post.
