The 79-year-old comedian of the Tirana Circus, Skender Sallaku, passed
away yesterday morning. He had been hospitalized at the Mother Theresa
hospital for almost one month.
Sallaku is a former champion of classic wrestling, author of sketches and parodies, and also a brilliant circus interpreter and theater comedian.
The first clown of the Albanian circus was born in Tirana, on January 25th, 1935. He studied at the “Vojo Kushi” High Institute of Physical Training, and completed a qualification at the Beijing Circus.
He has played in several movies, such as “Comedy on the Screen”, “When Masks are Removed”, “Circus in the Village”, “Last Hunt”, etc.
Sallaku is the most respective representative of circus clowns and Albanian comedy.
Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed his condolences to the family.
“A sad news for the passing away of Skender Sallaku, popular comedian who in dim times gave laughs to young and old people. Condolences to the family”, Rama declared.
The Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, expressed his condolences for the passing away of Sallaku.
“I was very sad to hear the news about the passing away of Skender Sallaku, the legend of the Tirana comedy. I met him at the Municipality a few weeks ago. He had the same humor and optimism that he always had in decades. Sallaku was one of the most loved artists of this country, regardless of their ages. Condolences to the families, friends and fans”, Basha declared on Facebook.
