Thousands of residents at the Lower Dropull commune have not been
supplied with drinking water for the last six months. The water that
comes from the Nepravishta source gets lost in its way due to illegal
connections, water shortage and interrupted inestments for the
construction of an aqueduct for this area.
Most of the Frashtan and Lugar residents are senior aged citizens, and the lack of water is unacceptable to them. They are trying to use the ancient method of water collection from roofs, since they see no other choice.
Local authorities in Dropull commune say that the six villages are supplied by the electrical pumps that consume too much energy, and the Commune’s unpaid bills to CEZ have brought the water shortage in the villages.
According to the head of the commune, Dhimiter Maluqi, the second installment for the new aqueduct, a government investment, has not arrived yet.
