Investigative program Fiks Fare brought tonight the case of an English teacher in Maqellare of Dibra, in the northeast of Albania, who was absent in 90 percent of the lessons, thus leaving 6 classes of 9-year-cycle school without lessons.
“English” teacher Rajmonda Isaku, according to the reporting citizen, lived in Tirana and this also caused her to miss school. According to him, the director favored her by giving her Friday off, but she was still absent from Monday to Thursday.
The program brought conversations with the students of the fifth, seventh and ninth grades, classes in which Isaku teaches. The students indicated that the teacher is often absent, even in a conversation with Fiks Fare colleagues, the teacher admitted that the level of the students in “English” is very weak.
Fiks Fare reporters went to the school and met school director, Bilbil Lazri, who at first denied knowing about the teacher’s absences, but according to him, when the teacher is absent, she is justified with a medical report that she sends directly to the education office.
But in the end, the director admits that the teacher is absent most of the classes although he favored her by giving her Friday off.
“I know that she is the teacher who misses classes the most at school, but she was justified with medical reports”, says Lazri
Meanwhile, outside the interview, he admits that he called the teacher to the office about this issue, but despite accepting her medical reports, she was trying to work as an inspector in the Tirana Local Education Office.
