Situation in Novosela getting better

10 days after the Vjosa River went out of its riverbed and flooded some
areas in Fier and Vjosa, the situation in the Novosela commune has
improved sensibly.

The Emergency Headquarter say they distribute each day donations for the affected residents of 7 villages in this commune.

“We have distributed 8900 kg of food, 9000 liters of drinking water, 12 for each family a day”, declared the Emergency Official.

The other areas in the Fitore village had other damage. The agricultural fields and trees are the only means of survival for the residents, who appeal for more attention.

“I have problems with the water. It has never left. I have 6000 olive trees. That’s my bread and butter. If this goes on, I am bankrupt”, one resident says.

50 families in Narta, the Qender commune, Vlore, are surrounded by waters of the Vjose River, which has flooded the lands that connect with the Narta lagoon.

The lack of maintenance of the canals that are used by the pumps, has caused the water flow to flood several homes and cause many damage. After inspecting the embankment of Seleveci, the Director of the Drainage Board declared that there is no broken embankment.

“The Narta part has been fixed. All waters are being deposited on the main channel and then to the pump. The main collectors are blocked with inert materials. If we open them, we will have no more problems”, declared Apostol Qirko.
