Signs of cooperation from opposition

The majority and the opposition are taking the first step of
cooperation, trying to find consensus for the territorial reform.
Representatives of both parties were together for the first time in the
activity with the local associations.

Bashkim Fino and Lulzim Basha expressed the position of their political forces, and suggested new offers for cooperation. The opposition leader declared that this was an atmosphere of potential cooperation.

But the offers of both parties were different, and the Chairman of the Territorial Reform Commission, Bashkim Fino, declared that he was open to discuss the number of local units with the respective commission.

“We need the cooperation of the opposition. We must follow the example of other countries who have realized this reform, and balance the spending in municipalities and communes”, Fino declared.

The opposition leader gave more attention to the decentralization of the local government, which, according to Basha, should be realized before the territorial division.

“Decentralization is the key to success or failure for his reform. We cannot serve to citizens only through consensus. We have found the variants for the reform, but not the division plan”, Basha declared.

Although “consensus” was the key word in both speeches, both parties are still not agreeing about its realization time.

The majority says that the reform should be concluded within July, while the opposition says that there is no reason to rush things.
