Shqevi in house arrest

11/10/2010 00:00

The former political prisoner Perikli Shqevi is on house arrest after
lighting the petrol soaked body of his friend Gjergj Ndreca when the
latter was failing with the self-immolation attempt.

The Prosecution charged Shqevi of intentionally wounding Ndreca, and left him under house arrest, due to the circumstances.

Former Prosecutor Shqevi spoke through his lawyer by denying the charges and adding that his arrest was illegal, and for this he asked lighter measures that do not involve prison. The Prosecutor underlined that they have the video where Shqevi is seen lighting Ndreca’s body on fire, but the lawyer argued that this evidence was not legal.

Former political persecuted people, protest in front of Parliament

A few minutes before the Parliamentary session started, the former political prisoners protested in front of the Parliament in support of the hunger strike.

They appealed the government to not stay silent in front of acts like those of Ndreca and Bejko, and they asked Ilir Meta to withdraw from the coalition.

The Red and Black Alliance joined the protest, despite a debate they had with the political prisoners who said that the protest should not be politicized.

The RBA activists marched in front of the Parliament and burned posters of the Prime Minister Berisha.
