The Municipality of Tirana has found a way to find free space at the
Sharra cemetery for at least two months. The nearby army bunkers will be
removed, freeing 2000 square meters of space.
“Lacking of new spaces at the Sharra cemetery, we have decided to demolish 16 old army bunkers, earning 2000 square meters of space that will allow a normal functioning of the cemetery for two months”, declared the Vice Mayor, Enno Bozdo.
Bozdo appealed the council to unblock the budget, since the municipality is facing difficulties and cannot work in service of the citizens.
“The budget of the municipality is blocked and without it we cannot find new spaces for a decent service to our citizens. We are in difficult conditions and we hope that the government will hear us”, Bozdo declared.
According to the vice mayor, they have a 3.5 million EUR project for the enlargement of the Sharra and Shishtufina cemeteries through expropriation and rehabilitation, but the lack of budget has blocked everything.
