In a ceremony in Shkodra in northern Albania, the 100th anniversary of the opening of one of the oldest schools in the country was remembered today, where the register of the first Albanian school year in the season 1923-1924 was presented.

The commemoration of this jubilee for the “Ndoc Mazi” school celebrated the archive one of the most important educational institutions in Shkodër, with historical documents and photos, as well as exciting meetings of memories between generations of students and teachers and their relatives.

“I remember then that the teachers were our friends with even though they were very authoritarian. We had them as guides and we ourselves dreamed of becoming like the teachers who taught us”, said Majlinda Angoni, prefect of Shkodra.

“I feel privileged and proud when I see all these students who have graduated from this school. Many generations of people who today are famous came from Shkodra”, said Arben Mazi, grandson of the war hero Ndoc Mazi, whose name the institution later took.

“It is precisely these figures who, in the most difficult moments, gave this land hope and life. Just as this temple has given hope and life to Shkodra and knowledge”, said Hasan Muca, director of the Regional Directorate of Education in Shkodra.

In this school, great figures of Albanian art such as Prenkë Jakova, Roza Anagnosti, Ndoc Çefa, Frederik Ndoci etc. have given their contribution as teachers and students.
