The Shkoder Tax Director was arrested this Monday by order of the Prosecution. Hysen Hysaj is suspected of power abuse.
The director has illegally credited 10 million ALL as VAT reimbursement for a company owned by his nephew, (sister’s son).
Based on the tax legislation, the companies that import goods from abroad must pay customs obligations before they are included in the VAT reimbursement.
The company in question has not paid the customs obligation for some purchases made in 2012. However, they have filed a request for VAT reimbursement.
The tax administration has not made proper verifications for the request. The subject was not declared by the tax administration for the customs debt.
The Shkoder Prosecution has charged the Tax Director for favoring the company illegally and reimbursing 10 million ALL.
