While the government speaks about favoring small business and
guaranteeing power supply 24/7, the lack of the electric power is
closing down a cloth factory in Shkoder, a 2 million EUR investments
that employs 100 workers. The owner claims that they are unable to
afford the cost of the power generator that consumes 300.000 ALL of fuel
per day.
According to the “Shqip” newspaper, this enterprise lacks of drinking water, although it has been regularly paid. The infrastructure of the area leaves much to be desired. This is the Antonela enterprise, at the industrial area of the town, which has two weeks without electric power supply, due to a defect that has not been repaired. While the electrical power has returned to the other families of the area, in was not the case with this enterprise and many others in the area.
The owner of this business publicly announced the closure of his factory, after losing 20.000 EUR only in the last week, due to the lack of electric power. He promises to sue CEZ for the damage.
“I have been conducting this activity for seven years, a very serious production line for western markets, in full accordance with all laws and rules. Our problem started two weeks ago, when the electric power line had a defect. We asked for help from the respective institutions, but they fixed only the line that supplies energy to the local homes. They did not fix the defect for my enterprise and five others. We have knocked on every door, without a positive answer. In these conditions, I had production orders and I was obliged to use a big generator that consumes 300.000 ALL each day, thinking that the defect would be fixed. Two weeks have passed and I am still working with a generator, with a financial loss of 20.000 EUR. The factory is lacking of drinking water, although we pay for it and the workers take it from home. They destroyed our water network while opening canals for a power cable. In these conditions, without water, electricity and roads, when no one returns a positive response for repairing the situation, I have been forced to close the business down”.
