There is a crossroad in Kryebushat, 15 kilometers from the city of
Shkoder, which is notorious for the high number of accidents. The most
horrible that shocked the public opinion was the one that caused the
death of five young boys who crashed against a truck. Recently, the
truck driver was found guilty for traffic violation.
Two days ago, another accident took place in this zone, leaving 10 people injured, one of them, a 15-year-old, is fighting for his life in hospital.
The crossroad remains very dangerous, since it was built badly and there are no adequate signs. But the infrastructure was not the only cause of accidents.
The Directory of Driving Licenses held a meeting with the Driving School technicians in Shkoder. The Director, Demir Osmani, declared that 25% of them who apply for a license don’t even appear at school.
“The first problem is educating the youth. This is a huge problem, because most of the young drivers do not respect the rules once they receive their licenses. There are also problems with the participation in courses”, Osmani declared.
The Lezhe-Shkoder road remains very problematic, despite the signs and the road repairs.
