Vetting Institutions are vetting the Supreme Court judges. One of them passed today, but do all Judges deserve to pass the vetting law? How can the judiciary system be cleaned in order to make Albanian citizens trust that the Vetting Law is not political and that it is not being tricked due to lower interests?

Top Channel has decided to assist the filtering process by bringing the case of Judge Shkelzen Ademi.

The USA has refused to give him a travel visa, and the embassy refuses to disclose the reason, but Mr.Selimi is not a common citizen.

He is one of the members of the Supreme Court in Albania, and the visa refusal comes in a time when judges and prosecutors are undergoing the Vetting Law. The USA and Ambassador LU want to implement the judiciary reform and clean the system from corruption.

Selimi may not have faced the Vetting Law officials yet, but the US vetting rejected him. This is a signal, which shows how the Vetting Law could be conducted.

Selimi’s salary is 1.5 million ALL a year, and his wealth is 37 million. Selimi says that the wealth comes from the rent of a gas station in Vlora, where he used to work.

With strong support from the previous government, Selimi entered the Supreme Court and worked with very important cases, such as the Gerdeci the January 21st tragedies.

He was one of the judges who decided that the Gerdec tragedy was caused by a “technological accident”, saving many famous names from criminal responsibility.

The verdict of the January 21st case also saved politicians from responsibility. Selimi will soon undergo the Vetting Law, a process that aims to clean the justice system from corruption.

In the days to come, Top Channel will bring other suspicious cases which show that Shkelzen Selimi could have cooperated with the crime.
