Shengjin fire under control

27/08/2016 00:00

The fire situation in Shengjin is getting better while firefighters have worked to isolate the flames.

Three active fire sources were taken under control during the early hours. Lezha firefighters have worked for three days to put out the fire, but the harsh terrain and the lack of proper infrastructure made it impossible for them to intervene.

A resort was endangered by the flames and authorities were forced to intervene with a helicopter from air. The strong wind favored the spreading of the flames.

Tirana firefighters were sent to help the Lezha colleagues. Police has arrested the man who started the fire, Preng Pergjoni, to renew his pastures.
