17 people have been arrested in total for the theft of 713 million ALL at the Bank of Albania.

The Prosecution of Tirana has issued seven arrest orders for the members of the Bank of Albanian Inventory, accused of power abuse, since they have not noticed the absence of 713 million ALL.

The arrest orders were issued for Getntian Jahja, Ilir Dedja, Emiljano Lamce, Mehdi Marku, Bahri Allushi, Mehdi Molla and Fatbardh Gurthi.

Six of the orders have been executed, while the Tirana Police is working to find the seventh person.

The Prosecution found that the commission tasked for the inventory was composed of Bahri Allushi, Fatbardha Gurthi, Ilir Dedja, Mehdi Molla. Their work started on 09 December 2013 and ended on 24 December 2013. After the inspection, the commission was unable to notice the missing money.

The Prosecution says that the eight packages with the stolen money have visible damage and they should have noticed. This shows that the members of the commission have not done their job thoroughly and they will be held responsible.

The investigation group reached this conclusion by referring to the declarations of the people that are being investigated for the theft, Ardian Bitraj and Mimoza Bruzia.

The Prosecution comes to the conclusion that the commissions should have noticed the missing money since 2012 and 2013, and that’s why they are accused of power abuse.
